Courtney Honored by The Wharton School

In May 2005, Dean Patrick Harker of The Wharton School presented Roz Courtney with the Alumni Award for Distinguished Service for her leadership and impact on the Wharton community, her ethical standards and professional achievements. She was the first woman to receive this honor.

Workshops at Seton Hall on the Hallmarks of Extraordinary Leadership for the Business School’s Leadership students, March and April 2007: applying modern leadership approaches to real situations and assessing leadership impact using an appraisal tool tailored for young leaders based on the measures of success of top business executives.
 
Roz Courtney led a session with MBA students at the Wharton School about her unique coaching approach and work with executives, sponsored by Wharton’s Leadership Program Office, March 27, 2007. Students set the agenda including: how to make an immediate impact in business, the mindset and strategies of the best leaders, the key differences in coaching senior and mid-level executives.
 
Roz Courtney produced and moderated a Reuters Newsmaker Panel: Women Leaders, Changing Business Leadership, February 13, 2007, demonstrating how a growing number of female executives are leading differently to impact entire businesses and industries like never before. Inspired by Ms. Courtney’s research, the program explored striking patterns in the approach of executives who dare to get bold results with startling success – a view that has significant implications for running modern businesses and building successful careers.

The first-ever celebration of Women’s Leadership, “Women at the Forefront©” attracted top executives to Wharton for a panel discussion and breakout sessions featuring four extraordinary women leaders and hosted by leadership expert Roslyn Courtney, WG ’76. Wharton Alumni Magazine, Summer 2007.

“Women at the Forefront©” an executive forum at US Trust on June 20, illuminated a distinct approach to leadership that produces growth in an era of unprecedented change, identified in Roz Courtney’s study of top leaders. Ms. Courtney moderated a discussion with Susan Lyne, President and CEO of Martha Stewart Living OmniMedia, Nina Link, President and CEO of Magazine Publishers of America, and Frances Sevilla-Sacasa, President and CEO of US Trust.

Some people call business a power play - others see it differently. Roz Courtney co-produced the first-ever women's event at the Wharton School's Alumni Weekend, collaborating with Professor Mary Ellen Overbay from the Seton Hall University Business School on May 13, 2006. "What We Never Learned about Business at Wharton," featured Mindy Posoff, Managing Director, New Market Capital Partners; Lorrie King, Sr. Marketing Director, Coty Celebrity Fragrances; and Phyllis Levy, President, The Outrepreneur Group. Wharton Alumni Magazine.

Roslyn Courtney was featured in the November 2005 issue of Executive Leadership, a publication of the National Institute of Business Management. The column—"Approachable? Accountable?"—was adapted from "Leading Indicators," Jessica Marquez, Workforce Management.
